Kemerovo took up the Torch Relay of the 2nd Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games

The torch relay was started from the Kuzbass Regional Sports Center by Sergey Tsivilev, Governor of Kuzbass, who became the first torch bearer.

“In Yakutia, there is a sacred sight named Lena Pillars. This is the place where the Children of Asia were created, the place where the festival torch is lit up every time. The heat of this torch has reached us here in Kuzbass, so may it warm up the hearts of all the people of our region, all the athletes who came to us, and all the guests”, Sergey Tsivilev addressed the participants of the ceremony.

Oleg Matytsin, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, Anatoliy Seryshev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Siberian Federal District, Vladimir Maksimov, President of the Children of Asia Games International Committee, and Stanislav Pozdnyakov, President of the Olympic Committee of Russia, attended the event with welcoming speeches.

“An incredible, tremendous event is taking place in the Siberian land today. We have always performed with dignity ever since the Children of Asia Games were launched. Since this torch was lit in Yakutia in January, it passed through many cities and villages, and a lot of people united by the love of sports have joined the relay. I am convinced that for us, this torch which can be considered the Olympic torch will symbolize honesty of competing, love of sports, peace and tight friendships between the peoples and countries”, emphasized Anatoliy Seryshev.

Oleg Matytsin expressed gratitude for a warm welcome during the torch relay. “This day is a historical event: Russia is hosting the Winter Children of Asia Games for the second time. Today it is even more important than ever to do everything to make our children happy, enable them to do sports and inspire them pride in our countries. These days, Russia is demonstrating an example of how to be friends, be together, and stand up for each other. I think that the example of adults should pass to our children as a relay. I wish you success, greetings on this holiday!”, said the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation.

The Kemerovo torchbearing team includes 36 people: athletes, heads of the organizational committee, and cadets. Among them is Anna Bogaliy, two-time Olympic champion, Ambassador of the Children of Asia Games.

The relay was finished by Dmitriy Anisimov, Mayor of Kemerovo, at the Festivalnaya Street, in front of the Kuzbass Ice Palace. The torch was passed to the torch keepers to light the Cup.
