The flag of the Children of Asia Games in Kuzbass was unfurled on one of the highest mountains in Russia – Kazbek

The group of Siberian alpinists ascended one of the most famous mountains of the Caucasus and devoted it to the upcoming Winter Children of Asia Games 2023 in Kuzbass.

11 sportsmen from four Siberian regions from Kuzbass, Omsk and Novosibirsk regions and Krasnoyarsk Krai were in the group of alpinists.

The alpinists started ascending next to the small village Karmadon (the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania). More than 40 km way to the top of the mountain took sportsmen seven days to climb paying no attention to bad weather conditions. The mountaineers summited ‘ODG Peak’, which is 4200 meters high, and unfurl the flag of the Children of Asia Games in Kuzbass.

Mount Kazbek is a dormant stratovolcano and it is in the east among the 5000 meters high mountains of the Caucasus and it is in the top ten highest peaks in Russia. Kazbek is located on the Russian-Georgian border, the eastern part of The Khokh Range.

The last volcanic eruption was in 650 BC.
