The Moscow team is at the top of the non-official medal standings, the second place is occupied by athletes of the Siberian Federal District, and the team of the Urals Federal District is the third.
Finals in curling took place at Sosnoviy Ice Sports Center in Kemerovo as part of the 2nd Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games. The team of the Siberian Federal District won the mixed doubles competitions. Athletes from the Urals Federal District are the second and the Moscow team is the third. Denis Semenenko and Karina Dementyeva from Kemerovo participated in the round for the third place but lost to the team from Moscow. Anastasia Krivosheyeva, coach of the Kuzbass team, is convinced that the players from Kemerovo Region—Kuzbass were lucky to compete as far as the semifinals.
“Our players have a bright future ahead. They are the youngest at these competitions. For 13-14 year old players, it’s hard to win over the 15-16 year old, and besides, we still lack experience after just a year of training”, noted Anastasia.
More than 130 athletes from the Republic of Armenia, Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Belarus, and from the Russian regions did their best to win the cross-country skiing solo sprint. Among the boys, Dmitriy Trushkin from the Siberian Federal District took the first place. The winner among the girls was Victoria Bedina from Moscow.
Competitions in the Super-G discipline of alpine skiing was held at Yugus Winter Sports Center in Mezhdurechensk. In the boys’ group, the gold champion was Roman Norchuganov from the Siberian Federal District; Vladislav Yurevich from the Siberian Federal District won the silver medal, and the third place was shared by Timofey Kildyushkin, Republic of Bashkortostan, and Artyom Shchelokov, Kemerovo Region—Kuzbass. Among the girls, Sofya Reshetnik from the Siberian Federal District was the leader; Sofya Gusarova, Siberian Federal District, was the second, and Victoria Malikova from Moscow took the third place. In the team competitions, the Siberian Federal District was the first.
In ski jumping mixed team competitions, the champions are Veronika Pavlova and Konstantin Krayev, flying skiers from Kemerovo Region—Kuzbass. The Kazakhstan-1 team – Sofiya Shishkina and Ilya Mizernykh – won the silver medal, and the bronze went to the Kazakhstan-2 team – Alyona Sviridenko and Ilya Shilnikov.
At Kuznetskiy Led Arena, the ice hockey solo performance competition was held as part of the 2023 Children of Asia Games. Players from all the nine teams competed in three aspects: shot precision, best shootout, timed race and puck prowess. Egor Privalov from the Siberian Federal District was the most precise player. The best shootout was the snooker-style shot by Daniil Vakarin (Far Eastern Federal District). Matvey Shevtsov from the Republic of Belarus was the fastest to run a circle (16.36 seconds). Each winner received a souvenir from the Children of Asia Games organizers.
March 1 was the final day of short track speed skating competitions. 1000 m distance, boys: 1st place – Meirzhan Tolegen, the Republic of Kazakhstan; 2nd place – Aleksandr Simakin, Moscow; 3rd place – Madiyar Madikhov, the Republic of Kazakhstan. Among the girls, Ksenia Pribytova from the Urals Federal District was the leader; Anastasia Baranova from Moscow won the silver medal, Vasilisa Sharagina from the Far Eastern Federal District was third.
In the 1500 m race in short track speed skating, Matvey Bazhanov from Moscow won the gold medal. Among the girls, Albina Ilyasova (Urals Federal District) was the winner.
In speed skating (500 m race), Kirill Batyushkin from the Siberian Federal District won the gold medal among boys. Veronika Beskhlebnaya from Moscow was the leader among girls.
In the snowboard discipline of parallel giant slalom, Ilya Khurtin from the Siberian Federal District won the gold medal among boys; Dmitriy Podolskiy from the Kemerovo Region—Kuzbass was second, and Makar Borodin from the Urals Federal District was third. Among girls, the leader was Yana Ulyanova from the Urals Federal District; Maria Travinicheva from the Siberian Federal District was second, and Victoria Kozlova from the Siberian Federal District was third.
Participants of the Games are enjoying the cultural program. For example, athletes from the Republic of Belarus visited the Novokuznetsk Museum of Local Lore. They admired the Indigenous Peoples of the Region exposition with up to 100 unique exhibits. The guests learned about the foundation of Novokuznetsk, a city with 405 years of history.
The visitors were fascinated by a shaman's tambourine, jewelry and clothing of a Teleut woman, and a mock-up of the Shor iron-smelting furnace. According to the athletes, this is their first long-term sports event, so the cultural program is a surprise for them.
